Chin (Frank) is born in Chinatown.

The son of Wah Chin and Len Thieu Wong, Frank Chin is raised in China after the death of his parents, he returns to Boston after World War II, attends Merrimack College, serves in the U.S. Army, and marries Kathleen Lai Yung Wong in 1961. He becomes involved in local politics, especially in registering Chinese residents to vote, comes to be known as “Uncle Frank,” and serves as Boston Purchasing Agent for four Boston mayors. Chin dies in Boston on October 9, 2023.
